- Doğan
Lastik was established in 1959 in Levent-Istanbul, where
the company continued manufacturing until 1997, with specialization
on tire repairing & coating. In the beginning, the company
was owned and managed by Şükrü DOĞAN, but later on in
1964 the company’s structure was changed, with most of
the shares still held by the Doğan family.
- Until
the year 1969, the company continued manufacturing coating
& repair materials for cars and trucks. In addition to
these in 1969 the company started to manufacture bicycle
tires and tubes, water and air compressor hoses. In 1971
with the Hungarian United Tire Factory’s (which today
is known as Taurus Company) Know-how, Doğan Lastik started
manufacturing motorcycle tires & tubes.
-
After Tofaş Automotive Factory (FIAT Turkey) was established
in Bursa in 1976, Doğan Lastik introduced its division
of technical rubber parts production division and thus
becoming a supplier for the automotive industry.
-
Doğan Lastik quitted manufacturing bicycle and motorcycle
tires and pressure resistant hoses after the economic
crisis in 1978/79.

-
Yavuz Doğan and Oğuz Doğan, who are the two sons of the
company’s founder Şükrü Doğan, started to manage the company
in 1979. After some improvements were made in the company
for 2-3 years, new investments were made in 1983. A deal
was made with Ellerbrock Reifenrunderneuerungs-Technologie
GmbH, Hamburg about the cold system tire coating, after
seeing the tendency of the Turkish market towards radial
tire manufacturing. After the deal, the laboratory equipment
was modernized and the cold system coating material manufacturing
plant investments were made.
-
After 1981, an increasing trend in exports operations
was seen in Turkey. Mainly due to this fact, the quality
of the products manufactured by Doğan Lastik was significantly
improved.
-
The first exports of Doğan Lastik was for pressure resistant
hoses to Atlas Copco in Iran and bicycle tires to Cyprus.
The first time that Doğan Lastik exported technical rubber
products was in 1983, which was made to Western Europe
countries.
-
In 1984 Doğan Lastik became the representative and distributor
of Tip-Top Stahlgruber-Munich, Otto Gruber GmbH & Co-Munich,
in Turkey.

-
In order to work more efficiently the company was split
in two in the beginning of 1988: The part that was responsible
for the distribution of rubber related foreign brands
in Turkey and the manufacturing part.
-
The first group was in charge of the coating plant and
the representative of some companies in Turkey. This branch
started to operate under the name “Doğan Lastik Kaplama
Sanayi ve Ticaret Anonim Şirketi” in Izmit.
-
The second group, under the management of Yavuz Doğan,
continued it's manufacturing business under the name "DOĞAN
LASTİKÇİLİK SANAYİ VE TİCARET ANONİM ŞİRKETİ", in
the Levent/Istanbul plant area until 1997 and in Gebze
Organized Industry Zone after 1997.
-
The increasing competition in the markets, the improvements
in technology and the rapid changing world conditions
led the company to a re-structuring process in 2001. Now
our activities are being held under two companies; "TEKNO
KAUÇUK A.Ş." and "DOĞAN FOREIGN TRADE LTD."
